DAWSON, GA (WALB) - Dawson City hall was damaged Friday night by an electrical fire.
There were no injuries and minimal damage thanks to the quick response of firefighters.
Dawson Fire Department was alerted by the alarm system around 8 p.m.
The Terrell County Fire Department was called in to assist.
Upon arrival there was very little flames, but plenty of smoke.
The building was vacant when the fire started, and authorities say there was no foul play.
Main street was blocked for a few hours.
"It's all minor, real minor," Tommy Poupard. "Just the charring of the wood around the outlet that shorted, and the dry wall where they had to remove it to check for any other damage."
The main structure of city is still intact, but there will have to be a lot of smoke cleanup.
