LEE CO., GA (WALB) - Lee County boy's soccer sent its 2nd athlete to college for free in the past 15 years.
Cole Redd signed his letter of intent to play for Middle Georgia State University.
The Lee County senior says he was enticed by the school after his campus visit.
Like the Trojans program, the Knights of Middle Georgia are also on the rise.
It also helps that Macon is just an hour and a half's drive away.
Redd says he's excited to keep his talents within the peach state.
"It means a lot to stay in state," said Redd. "It shows that Georgia soccer is growing that you can stay in Georgia and play and still compete at the collegiate level."
His head coach had nothing but glowing praise for him.
"Cole is by far the best player in our region," said Lee Co. boy's soccer coach Kevin Pych. "He has a work ethic that never stops. I'm very excited he's going to Middle Georgia state university, that's where I used to coach. I'm real excited that I'll get to watch him play on the old field."
Coach Pych hopes the ratio of signees per year will continue to trend upwards.
