Employees with the city of Moultrie are working to lose weight.
They are almost done with their 12 week weight loss challenge.
Collectively they have lost more than 800 pounds.
They work out at the Elevate gym downtown several times a week.
City leaders said they hope to set a model for other communities looking to live healthier life styles.
"The comradely, the friendships that have been developed have been astounding. Its a wonderful component. I would recommend it to everyone," said Peter Dillard, City Manager.
"It really has brought people together. Its not really about exercising. Its about forming relationships with people in other departments we really don't have contact with on a daily basis," said Marci Meadows, Human Resources.
The city employees hope to continue the program even after the 12 weeks are over.
