DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - Students at Radium Springs Elementary School had a special visitor Monday morning.
Author of 'Growing Hope,' Patricia Guin paid a visit to the school.
Guin is a South Georgia native.
She visited the school as part of a campaign she's launched with her book.
All of the students got activity and coloring books.
The books came from a donation from Barry Carr of Safe Aire.
Each one comes with the full story and a 30-day journal.
Guin said the story is designed to target children who are struggling with different issues in their everyday lives.
"It seems to have sparked a great deal of excitement with the children. They are very enthusiastic," said Guin.
The 30-day journal asks students to think about the choices they make in their lives.
It challenges them to make better choices in the 30 days.
Once they complete the journal, they can receive a bracelet as a reward.
