ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The voices of a world famous choir filled a concert hall on Albany State's West Campus Sunday night.
The Albany Civil Rights Institute hosted Florida A&M University's Society Concert Chorale.
"Good music and good food tends to transcend race and gender and everything else," said W. Frank Wilson, ACRI's Executive Director.
The choir's director, Dr. Mark Butler previously directed Dougherty High's choral department.
The Society Concert Chorale is known for its diverse repertoire including classical, jazz, gospel, spiritual and multicultural styles.
"We wanted to bring in a group that brings quality music that everybody can enjoy. (FAMU is) famous for their marching band, but this group is equally as famous. So, we're excited to have them in Albany, Georgia," said Wilson.
The money raised from ticket sales will benefit the Albany Civil Rights Institute.
