DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) - High school athletes in Dougherty County had their annual sports physicals Saturday morning.
Thanks to Phoebe, it was all free.
Phoebe Northwest Physical Medicine conducted the physicals.
Athletes went through six different stations where physicians performed several exams from height and weight, to muscular skeletal and physical exams.
Physicians say this is a chance to find any health problems before the athletes suit up for their upcoming seasons.
"We just try to find some red flags. Just to see if we can find anything that might be an issue for the upcoming year," said Chauncey Keith, Athletic Trainer at Phoebe.
"Anytime out there, you don't know what might happen. We want to make sure that nothing happens on the court or on the fields. So being able to get a physical like we're getting today is a big positive and plus for us," said Coach Charles Truitt, Monroe Football.
Phoebe employees and medical staff volunteered their time to give out the physicals.
