GRADY CO., GA (WALB) - A popular Grady County roadway is getting a major makeover.
Seventeen miles of Old 179 leading up to the Grady and Mitchell county line is being restored.
Phase 1 and 2 have been completed and phase three is already underway.
County manager Carlos Tobar said the last paving done to Old 179 was more than 30 years ago.
"What happened in the 70s is that the GDOT tried a new technique and basically glued new asphalt down to the old pavement and the bond didn't last,"
Tobar said the project will be complete sometime next year.
For now, they are going to patch all of the holes until the roadways can be redone.
