ALBANY, GA (WALB) - On Thursday, the City of Albany and Dougherty County recognized leaders of Dougherty's Emergency Operations Center to recognize their hard work during the January storms.
Many city and county employees spent countless hours preparing and recovering from the storms.
Dougherty Co. Commission Chairman Chris Cohilas and Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard said they appreciated the sacrifices made by those at the EOC.
"These people went way beyond the call of duty. You know they were here Saturday and Sunday night and you know some of them didn't even get sleep and those kinds of things," Albany Mayor Dorothy Hubbard said.
In order to honor all of those who worked before, during, and after the storms, Chairman Cohilas and Mayor Hubbard proclaimed April 13, 2017, as Dougherty Emergency Management Agency Appreciation Day.
