ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Dougherty County Emergency Operation Center is now open and non-emergency lines are now being staffed 24 hours a day.
You can contact the non-emergency lines at (229) 483-6226 and (229) 483-6227.
EMA Director Ron Rowe decided that it's best to have the EOC in operation.
Those at the center will include law enforcement, EMS, utility representatives, and other first responders.
Dougherty County EMA Spokesperson Jenna Wirtz says having a team already in place helps with the storm's aftermath.
"As soon as the storms have passed there are already response crews whether its fire, law, EMS, utilities are already out trying to get the most damaged areas to try and help people," said Wirtz.
If you need to report an emergency during the storms, Wirtz suggests calling 911 before calling the EOC.
WALB's Zach Logan spoke live on Facebook with Wirtz Tuesday morning about the decision.
