ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

Utility crews continue to restore power throughout areas of South Georgia.

Monday’s strong winds brought down trees and power lines.

The power outages started around 1:30 p.m. Monday afternoon.

Some residents were only without power for around two hours, but others were not so lucky.

As of Tuesday morning, a number of residents were still without power.

Albany Utilities told WALB News 10 that around 2,000 customers were still without power.

Mitchell EMC said that less than 900 customers were still in the dark.

Mitchell EMC reported several broken power poles. Crews are continuing to work on replacing those poles and hope to have the power back on as soon as possible.

With another round of storms expected Wednesday, now is a good time to make sure that you have a plan just in case the lights go back out.
