TIFT CO., GA (WALB) - Despite the early-morning showers, folks in Tifton enjoyed a day full of fun and games with the Special Olympics games.
The Tift Area Special Olympics hosted its annual spring games on Friday.
It's the biggest event of the year for special needs kids and adults in the area.
Nearly 200 kids and adults from Special Olympics and Easter Seals participated this year.
They were all paired up with a buddy from the high school and had the chance to participate in 15 different activities at the E B Hamilton Complex.
"This is all about the special needs kids day. We try to make this a special day for them. They look forward to this. The day school starts they are already wanting to know when their Special Olympics are," said the Tift Area Special Olympics Chairman Rita Griffin.
Thanks to donations, no kid went home empty-handed.
Each competitor got a new pair of sneakers, a T-shirt, a medal and a trophy.
