It had been 20 years since Pelham experienced a championship, and Sunday evening they partied like it was 1997.
Head coach Antonia Tookes and the Lady hornets addressed their fans out at the Pelham High school track.\
There were bounce houses, a live DJ and plenty of food.
But even as they commemorated a great season, the ladies have began to think about a repeat.
"We're going to have a good off season," said Tookes. "And see where we can get from there. Hard work, dedication perseverance. We just got to do the best we can to prepare for next season, because everybody's going to be gunning for the state champions."
The Lady hornets are graduating four seniors and are bringing back only two starers next year.
It was the last hurrah for senior guard Destiny Thomas.
"We made a deep run to the state playoffs so to finally get it done is a great accomplishment," said Thomas.
