ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A neighborhood came together to get Albany children out of the house to play.

Folks who live in Avalon Park organized an event for the children in the area to enjoy the weather and being outdoors.

Parents brought grills, food and even a bouncy house.

Organizers hope it helped raise awareness for the schools in the area and get children registered for pre-school and kindergarten next year.

"It's just a blessing to see people come together and smile and see the kids have fun without stressing," said Debrik Perry, organizer.

Whitney Head Start Pre School also helped organize the event.
