Night Hawks take down nationally ranked Warriors

The Thomas University baseball team split with 13th-ranked Webber International University (Fla.) on Saturday at Varnedoe Stadium. WIU took the first game, 7-4, while TU won the second game, 4-2.
The Night Hawks went to 14-22, 3-9 in The Sun Conference, while the Warriors went to 25-7, 8-4 in TSC. TU hosts Brewton-Parker University (Ga.) in a double header starting at 3 p.m. on Tuesday at Varnedoe Stadium.

Jalbert Melo went 4-for-5 with three runs scored and an RBI, while Tanner Long hit 3-for-5 with an RBI. Gavin Murphy went 2-for-4.
David Wood suffered the loss on 5.2 innings pitched with four runs on 10 hits and struck out two.

Holden Alexander picked up the win on eight innings pitched with two runs on three hits and struck out five. Ryan Pierce collected the save on an inning pitched with one hit and struck out one.
