LOWNDES CO., GA (WALB) -

A mother said she was outraged to learn that a Lowndes County bus driver was arrested for a DUI.

This comes after Amanda Mullinax was arrested Tuesday afternoon for a DUI, while driving a school bus full of students.

According to sheriff deputies, she was twice the legal limit.

Lindsey Thomas, a parent, said she hopes this was an isolated incident and not something that occurred while her nine year old daughter was on the bus.

"It kind of shook me up and I had to sit down and process it all. I mean i didn't hear it from the bus barn or anyone else. While my daughter wasn't on the bus, it's still like what if she was," said Thomas.

Thomas said that as right now they have a temporary bus driver.

Being a concerned parent, she said she is still picking her daughter up from school for the time being.

"I've gotten to know all these kids on a personal basis. They are all like a family in our complex. So if any of those kids get hurt it touches me too, makes me angry," said Thomas.
