ALBANY, GA (WALB) - The Georgia Firebirds are off to an 0-1 start to their sophomore campaign, and it wasn't pretty.
Now head coach Antwone Savage is making a major change.
The Firebirds are swapping out their quarterbacks.
Percy Turner will take over the starting signal caller duties for the Firebirds this weekend at Jacksonville.
Former starter Jeffrey Legree is no longer with the team.
Savage believes Turner will better fit the Firebirds offense.
"Turner is a calm guy, he's more calm than Legree was," said Savage at Thursday's practice. "He has a lot more arena experience. He just has to come in and learn our playbook. Once he learns the terminology and he's comfortable, he can make the plays we need."
Turner went 6-10 for 76 yards and two touchdowns in last week's loss to High Country.
The Firebirds hit the road Saturday for a showdown with the Sharks.
