ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

6-time Olympic medalist Jackie Joyner-Kersee wrapped up her day in Albany in a fundraising effort.

The Boys and girls club hosted its 30th annual steak and burger dinner.

Around 1,000 guest packed into Albany State West campus gym.

This year's goal was to raise over $100,000 via sponsors and donations.

Joyner-Kersee was the guest of honor.

The former track star was a member herself when she was younger.

She's been involved with the Boys and Girls club since retiring from track.

She says dinners like these are always a joy to attend.

"The kids get the steak and the grown ups get the burger, but I've gone to several and most of the time the kids want the burger, but you know what, kids will be kids," said a laughing Kersee.

Donations can still be made to the Boys and girls club of Albany.
