Coffee Drug Unit arrests suspected dealer after chase

DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Coffee County drug investigators have arrested a 28-year-old Douglas man on drug distribution charges, after he was caught selling suspected ecstasy in a restaurant parking lot, Tuesday.

Acting on a tip, detectives with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit staked out the Burger King, and saw Irwin Wright pull into the parking lot. Someone got into his car, and authorities saw Wright counting out tablets, and saw a small amount of marijuana in car.

Detectives identified themselves, and Wright tried to hide the suspected drugs, and then tried to take off running. He was quickly arrested, and taken to the Coffee County Jail.

Irwin Wright faces charges of possession of ecstasy with intent to distribute, misdemeanor possession of marijuana, and obstruction of law enforcement.

He was out of jail on probation, and other charges are pending.
