The new college and career academy being constructed in Dougherty county is right on schedule.

The Commodore Conyers College and Career Academy is a new opportunity for kids in the county to receive a high school education while also taking college credit courses.

The academy construction is finishing up on the outside of the school.

School leaders are looking forward to opening the facility to students and parents.

"This is an exciting time for us. All of our planning is coming in place and all of our construction is coming along. We are looking to be in the building by mid may and ready for students at the beginning of next school year," said Chris Hatcher, C.E.O.

The school is currently accepting applications and will begin class August of 2017.
