COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - A grand jury has indicted Jeffery Peacock for his connection with a murder and arson investigation that began last May.
Peacock will face 14 charges as this case heads to trial: five counts of malice murder, five counts of possession of a firearm during commission of a felony, arson in first degree and three counts aggravated cruelty to animals.
The arraignment will take place April 3rd.
Last Thursday, the case was presented to the jurors. One investigators call one of the worst mass killings in South Georgia in recent history.
That presentation was ten months in the making.
District Attorney of the Southern Judicial Circuit Brad Shealy said it has taken so long for prosecutors to build their case because of the abundance of evidence during the course of the investigation.
