Second verdict in Fitzgerald lottery murder case handed down

The trial of a second person charged in a January 2016 murder of a Fitzgerald lottery winner ended today in a guilty verdict.

According to the Ben Hill County Sheriff, Wayan Malik Jordan was found guilty on all 14 charges he faced Friday afternoon, including malice murder, felony murder, armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.

Jordan and six others are accused of killing Craigory Burch shortly after Burch won more than $400,000 on a lottery ticket.

Jordan will have his sentencing on May 8, 2017.

Nathaniel Baker was the first person who went to trial for this case. He was found guilty and convicted last month.

The other five people charged are expected to be tried one at a time at a later date.
