City leaders said the boat basin project is one step closer to being complete.
They are currently waiting on coast guard approval to put a pedestrian bridge in place that would link the two sides of the boat basin.
The bridge is already built and once approval is given they will begin to put it in place.
City manager Chris Hobby says in the meantime they have begun to make other improvements to the park.
"Cheney Griffin Park, you know we've completely realigned it and we will be doing resurfacing the existing pavement. It adds a tremendous amount of green space with the way we have reconfigured the park," said Hobby.
They will also add a fishing dock to the park as part of this project.
