DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

If you want to register your child for Pre-K in Dougherty County it's not too late.

The Dougherty County school administrators have extended the deadline to March 24th.

There are still spots available.

Typically they fill up quickly.

That was not the case this year.

School system spokesman J.D. Sumner thinks it's in part due to the January storms.

"I don't think we can overstay the impact that the storm has had on every facet of life in Dougherty County including those that have a child that would be starting their first year of Pre-K," said Sumner.

Sumner says the Dougherty County Pre-K program gives children a smooth transition into the kindergarten program.

If you are interested in enrolling your child, here is the form.
