LEESBURG, GA (WALB) - If you ask Michelle Morton...the bond between a human and horse has healing powers.
She's owned horses her whole life.
Recently Morton met Michael Gascon and his family.
He's a 5th generation horse trainer with a huge following on social media.
"It's hard to call it work when you do what you love, you don't work a day in your life," said Gascon.
"He's been such an inspiration to me. If I can help anybody, it's going to be through this," said Morton.
That's why when Gascon found out about more about Morton's battle, he decided to come to her.
"She makes you feel like you really don't have anything to complain about. She's a living testament to that," said Gascon.
Morton was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer.
"I wrote him about my situation and he told me to call him. He answered. I told him I was missing his clinic because I was starting chemotherapy, radiation and surgery. He said why don't you just come up here and spend time with me. I said I don't know how much that would cost and if I could afford it. He said how about I pay for it and your gas," said Morton.
This is all it took for her to get back on the saddle.
After long days of chemo and radiation, her favorite thing to do, come out and talk to her stallion Fifty.
"He's also a rescue. I can't wait to put him in the showroom now. He's my comeback horse," said Morton.
With Gascon's help, she has now found a connection to her horses that she didn't know was possible.
"It's like having my very own counselor. He got me through the hardest time in my life. It sounds silly but that horse is my best friend," said Morton.
She now uses his training sessions and that special bond to show others how horses can heal all wounds of life.
Michelle is now cancer free, has a new friend in Michael and a special bond with an animal she will cherish forever.
"It has taught me more to be less about that physical, more about what's in here," said Morton.
