ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A Dougherty County storm victim got a new roof thanks to the Albany twin storms relief fund.

City leaders replaced the roof of a storm-impacted family who live in the 2500 block of Imperial Road.

Like many others, the family had a badly damaged roof from January's tornadoes.

City leaders created the relief fund to help storm victims with immediate needs.

"The focus is immediate needs. And that's ranging from roofs to appliances, anything that was affected within the storm. And what we're trying to do is direct a pathway for those people that have been displaced to have hope once again of coming back to the community. And just rebuilding up our community," said Albany Twin Storms organizer Makeba Wright.

Albany Twin Storm funds organizers also started working on another roof located on Rosewood.

The relief fund raised more than $55,000.
