ASHBURN, GA (WALB) - The new gateway park to one South Georgia city is almost ready for visitors.
Ashburn Mayor Sandy Lumpkin said the park should be finished by the end of the month.
It's part of a Department of Transportation grant the city got back in 2004.
Funds had to be put on hold for a bit.
Now, 13 years later the city has almost finished three beautification projects thanks to those funds.
"So just last year, we began the sidewalk project, finished it, and then the park is the final phase in that grant," said Mayor Lumpkin.
Next week, city workers will plant trees and flowers along with putting in an arbor.
Mayor Lumpkin said she hopes to put in a fountain as well.
