THOMASVILLE, GA (WALB) - Leaders in the Thomasville community were locked up but not for any crimes.
It was all to raise money for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Folks were thrown in the slammer.
They had to raise $3,200 in order to get out.
Thomasville Police officers escorted the "inmates" to and from the event.
Event organizers said it's a creative way to raise money for a good cause.
"Everything is in the lock up theme, so its a lot of fun for the participants to tell their friends and family they are going to jail and then say they are doing it for charity," said Lisa Heil.
The Thomasville Police Chief Troy Rich also participated in the fun.
The goal of this years event is $45,000.
