WILCOX CO., GA (WALB) -

The Wilcox County Sheriff's Office has been searching for a man they believe is 'armed and possibly dangerous.'

However, Sheriff Robert Rodgers said Thursday he doesn't think the man is still in Wilcox County, but officials can't rule that out.

Multiple law enforcement agencies are looking for Toby Boyd, who is wanted on several counts of burglary among other charges.

He's a white male with brown hair. Sheriff's deputies have reason to believe he is armed with at least one gun.

On the afternoon of Thursday, March 9, Wilcox County Sheriff's Deputies got a call for another possible burglary in the same area they've been looking for the man.

However, officials are still working to find out if the same suspect is responsible.

Mary Williams lives on Sibbie Road south of Abbeville, in the same area Wilcox County Sheriff's Deputies have been searching for Boyd for about a week.

"We've never had anything like this, anybody to break in our homes like this. I've never known anybody to be around my house," said Williams.

Sheriff Robert Rodgers said it all started with a burglary at a home on Highway 129 south of Abbeville last Thursday, March 2.

Rodgers said his department believes Boyd is responsible for that burglary among several others in both Wilcox and Ben Hill Counties.

Boyd is also wanted by officials in South Carolina for felony charges.

"We know he's armed. That alone, that's a threat. This guy is a fugitive and he will do anything he has to do to get away," said Sheriff Rodgers. "We do not believe he is in the area. There has been no other burglaries, there has been no other car thefts."

The Sheriff said his office is doing everything it can to catch this fugitive.

"We are still keeping the area hot with patrols, searching buildings, searching churches," Sheriff Rodgers said.

If you see Boyd, you are urged not to approach him and to call 911 immediately.
