ALBANY, GA (WALB) - An Albany non-profit wants to teach residents life-saving skills.
The Albany Area YMCA will offer CPR/AED, and first aid certification at its branch.
Y officials said the classes are a combination of lectures, videos and hands-on training.
They also said dozens of folks stop in to get the training for their employment or personal home safety.
Recently, the Y's CEO put his first aid training to good use when a member had a emergency last week.
"He was able to use all of his training and be prepared. It was actually a first aid situation that he had to administer care in. But it could've easily turned into a situation where he needed his CPR/AED training and he was ready," said Y Aquatics Director Teresa Manning.
Albany Area YMCA CPR/AED, and first aid classes will be offered the following dates:
3/11 CPR/AED class 9-1 p.m.
3/13 First Aid class 5-7 p.m.
3/24 CPR/AED class 9-1 p.m.
The class costs $45 for members and $65 for non members.
