DOUGLAS, GA (WALB) - Coffee County sheriff's deputies arrested 47-year-old Tommy Lee Cooper late Saturday night, March 4, after a disturbance at a Douglas convenience store.
A witness, and a store employee verified the complainant's report that Cooper shattered the windshield, and dented the body of the vehicle driven by a former girlfriend.
Deputies were called to Jet Foods, 2595 Highway 221 North, just after 11:00 p.m. Saturday.
The complainant told deputies that Cooper had followed her from inside Jet Foods to the parking lot, where he proceeded to kick the driver's side door as she tried to leave. She said that Cooper jumped on the hood of the vehicle and kicked the windshield, causing it to shatter. He fell off the car as she drove away.
Cooper was located walking a short distance away from the incident location. He initially denied involvement, but later admitted to kicking the vehicle and destroying the windshield. He was treated for minor injuries by emergency personnel and transported to the Coffee County Jail.
Cooper faces one charge of second degree criminal damage to property.
