AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - Americus Police say that two young people were shot overnight in the city, and we aren't sure if they are related.
They received a call to check at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center around 1:00 Thursday morning about a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Jaleel Torres Brooks, 17, had received a gunshot wound to the body. Brooks' condition is unknown at this time, and this case also remains under investigation.
They then went to a house on Simmons Drive about 1:30 Thursday morning, and found that Esco Hurt, 25, was shot in the thigh, and the arm.
"We are encouraging our fellow citizens of our community to please stop the violence, put the guns away and call the police because we all need time to heal," said Americus Police Major Herman Lamar.
"I'm tired of this. Man," said Americus resident Henry Clark. "There is too much shooting going on. I'm just tired of it. Somebody is going to end up getting killed every day, man."
The wounds were not believed to be life threatening.
Arrests are pending in these cases, however, names are being withheld pending further investigation and warrants.
