The school board approved a change in leadership at Dougherty High School.

Principal Dr. Jeffrey Ross will now oversee the system's high school math curriculum.

Current Albany Middle Principal Eddie Johnson will take over at Dougherty.

School leaders said Johnson has made Albany Middle one of the top schools in the system... and they believe he can improve Dougherty High.

"We're sending a real high profile, energetic charismatic principal over and he's excited about moving. We're excited about him being there and I'm hoping he can carry that school to the heights of where we expect it to be and where it needs to be," said DCSS Superintendent Dr. David Mosely.

The changes take effect after Christmas break.

Albany Middle Assistant Principal Angelica Fowler-King will serve as interim principal.
