Long time Albany business leader dies

ALBANY, GA (WALB) -

A long-time Albany business and political leader, John Lamar Reese Jr., passed away Saturday, December 10.

Reese served on the Dougherty County school board and county commission for many years.

He led the effort to build three new schools after the flood of 94.

One of them is named after Reese.

"He was a person who everybody could trust and be a part of and make everybody part of the project rather and I think that's his biggest legacy," said DCSS Attorney Tommy Coleman.

Mr. Reese's visitation will be on Tuesday, December 13, 2016 from 4-6 PM at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Home. 

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016 at 11 AM at Porterfield United Methodist Church.  

Mr. Reese's full obituary will be available on Monday, December 12, 2016 after 2 PM and will be published in the Tuesday edition of The Albany Herald.

John Lamar Reese Jr. was 83.
