ALBANY, GA (WALB) - A group of elementary students are headed to a competition involving a popular toy - LEGOs.
Eight students from Live Oak Elementary will be competing in the first LEGO League.
The students will have to create their own robot with LEGOs to perform different missions in the competition.
The final pieces of their LEGO robot projects were coming together Friday afternoon.
School officials say the competition helps the kids build their character and STEM skills.
"The core values that's like the heart of FLL and that's really helping children understand that in life you're going to have strengths, you're going to have weaknesses. But it's all about having fun and putting your best foot forward," said 4th grade science teacher Otessa Robinson.
Students will be competing with 28 other teams on Saturday at Monroe High School.
