ALBANY, GA (WALB) - Dougherty County and City of Albany officials joined with volunteers to hand out blankets for those in need today.
The Dougherty Co. Coroner, Sheriff's Office, Fire Department, Recreation Department, and WCBN 'Praise' Radio Station joined forces to give out blankets for the third year in a row.
This year they gave out more than one thousand blankets, to try to help keep people warm during the coming cold weather.
"A lot of the electric bills are so high, during this time of year. And you know a lot of people are on a budget. So we try to ease things for them," said Tee Taylor.
The blankets were donated by the community.
Dougherty County Sheriff Kevin Sproul and his deputies delivered free blankets to some people in need who could not go to the distribution center.
