The Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel of Americus has announced funeral plans for Americus Police officer Nick Smarr.

Smarr was one of two officers killed Wednesday by a man who took his own life as police closed in Thursday morning.

Here is the funeral announcement-

Nicholas “Nick” Ryan Smarr, age 25, of Americus, died Wednesday, December 7, 2016, at Phoebe Sumter Medical Center. A native of Americus, he was born April 5, 1991, the son of Danny Lee Smarr and Janice Waters Smarr.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, December 11, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Georgia Southwestern State University Storm Dome with Pastor Ricky Smarr and Chief Mark Scott officiating.

Pallbearers include the Police Honor Guard. Burial will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. The family suggests in lieu of flowers that donations be made to the Nick Smarr Trust Fund at Sumter Bank &Trust.
