(WALB) - Holidays are a time for giving, but there is something you can give this holiday season that doesn't come wrapped in paper with a pretty bow.
"The Red Cross is encouraging all of our blood donors to give because we usually see our donations decline around the holiday season," said Kristen Stancil, Communications Manager.
On Tuesday, no one was in the waiting chairs and the room was completely empty. Employees even said only one person was signed up to give blood.
"We see fewer people donating because often times holiday activities and travel keep people from donating," said Stancil.
Employees said 10 minutes out of your day can save someone's life.
"As far as blood types there is always a need for O negative because your blood can go to anyone and that's often used in accidents or traumas," said Stancil.
Each year they said they see this decline in donations and they hope this year more people will come in.
