It's officially the holiday season here in Southwest Georgia, as this past Saturday a variety of communities held their own Christmas parade, including Lee County, Albany and Valdosta.
Once again this year we were honored to broadcast the Albany parade live for those who weren't able to attend in person.
We almost reached a new record with more than 40,000 in attendance and more than 100 entries including floats, bands and performers.
We thank the organizers for extending the parade by a few blocks, so more in the community could get a first row seat to see the floats and of course Santa Claus.
Of course, the Christmas season is really about the spirit of giving, and it's a good reminder that there are many in our community that really need our help.
We encourage you to take a look around this month and see what organization you'd like to help out.
like the Second Harvest Food Bank, Mission Change, the Red Cross, the United Way, the Salvation Army, Girls Inc, the Arts Council, the Museum of arts, The Boys Scouts, just to name a few.
Remember the real reason for the season, and that it is far better to give than to receive.
