Three arrested in Sylvester home invasion murder

SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

The murder of Dontavious Jamar Rutland may be solved with the arrest of three men yesterday.

SPD says that Nelson Hamilton, 21 and Eric Brown, 18,  both of Sumner, were arrested Monday.  A third suspect, Javiel Toomer was arrested by Albany-Dougherty ADDU on charges they had on him, and warrants will be taken for Toomer’s arrest for murder.

All three men will be charged the murder of Rutland on December 3, 2016, at 114 Covey Street.

Rutland, 25, was shot to death while three men attempted to force their way into his home.

He was shot multiple time as he struggled with the suspects who came to rob him. A stolen shot gun was recovered at the scene.

Additional charges are pending on the  three men in this case.

Sylvester Police Officers and investigators along with the GBI, Worth County Sheriff, and Poulan Police have been working together to solve this case.
