COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - Colquitt County's new recycling facility opened for residents Monday.

Folks can drop off household plastic, paper, cardboard, and metal.

White goods such as washers, dryers, and freezers will also be accepted.

Customers must pay a fee of $5 per month for either a six or 12 month pass.

County Administrator Chas Cannon said the centralized site is perfect to eliminate the higher cost of a pickup service.

"There will be an attendant there as well," he said, "so if you need some help with a bigger item, someone will help you take it out of your car, put it in the proper bin, and get you in and get you out.  It should be open on the weekends for people who can't get there during the week.  It's a good location and a good facility."

The site is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, Wednesday, Friday, and Saturday.

It's located at 245 23rd Street northeast.

Participation in the recycling program is not a requirement.

If you'd like to set up an account, visit the County Annex Building in room 168.
