AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - The Harvest of Hope Food Pantry in Americus will spend most of this month prepping for Christmas.
During December, the nonprofit only distributes food to those in need one time, as opposed to several times every other month.
Sonny Pinckard, Executive Director of Harvest of Hope Food Pantry, said they want to make sure the food for each family lasts until December 25.
"I decided when we opened up that we would just do it as close to Christmas as we possibly could," said Pinckard. "That way they could have something, because if you give people something the first of the month, then they may well eat it up."
If you'd like to help out, the food pantry accepts money and non-perishable food items. Call (229) 873-2090 to make a donation.
People who prove their ID and their income levels will pick up bags of food on December 20 and 21.
The food pantry serves 750 to 800 people each month.
