Life-long criminal arrested in Americus

AMERICUS, GA (WALB) - About 3:00AM Monday December 5, Americus Police patrolling on Judy Lane found a 2002 Chrysler Van that had been reported stolen in November.

Officers saw a man in the area of the vehicle, and arrested him after he ran off.

It turns out that 54 year old Gregory James Ellis of Albany has a huge criminal record, going back to 1979. Ellis has now been arrested 38 times since then.

Ellis was charged with Obstruction of Officers, Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Possession and use of Drug Related Objects, Two Counts of Criminal Trespass from November, and an outstanding Parole Warrant from Albany.

He is in the Sumter Jail.
