ALBANY, GA (WALB) - More students at Darton State College are complaining about problems with their financial aid.
12 resident assistants at Darton must pay back money. They received $500 stipends every two weeks.
The resident assistants also got loans to cover housing, tuition, and meal plans. Now they say the school is telling them they shouldn't have gotten both.
"I've been worried about my balance so much that I don't have time to study and I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to pay this balance by March," said Darton student Alexandra Lewis.
The students say they've got to repay up to $3,000 by March 1. They say they're being punished for the school's mistake.
"I was devastated I cried for about, me and my coworkers cried for like a whole week. Because some of us is suppose to be graduating in May, December. And for me, I came all the way from New York in Georgia to get a better education," said Darton student Devante Fulton.
Darton officials would not comment on the problem, but said they're working diligently with each student having financial aid problems.
