PEARSON, GA (WALB) -

Mixed verdicts concluded a murder trial in Pearson.

Juan Diaz Mendez was shot and killed at a motel about a year ago.

Victor Moten was found guilty on all nine counts including felony murder.

Rashad Flowers and Khalil Daniels were found guilty of attempted armed robbery attempt, but not guilty on other charges.

Mashawn Jones was found not guilty on all counts.

Investigators said Mendez was shot over a $65 cell phone that had been sold to another man who lived at the motel.

"We are pleased that the shooter in this case has been convicted on all counts. We felt like the evidence in this case also warranted the other defendants being found guilty as a party to the crime even if only one person pulled the trigger; however, the jury has rendered a decision and we respect that decision even if we do not agree. Pearson Police Department did a great job in this case and my staff put in long hours in order to bring justice," said District Attorney Dick Perryman.

Prosecutors say Mendez was only an innocent bystander and had nothing to do with the phone.
