COLQUITT CO., GA (WALB) - The holidays are a busy time for most, but especially for food banks in our region as they work to help those in need.
The Colquitt County Food Bank feeds hundreds of families throughout the year.
Executive Director Andrew Christensen said it's because of the community that the food bank is able to have enough food to help those who cannot help themselves.
He said the Christmas lights display at one Moultrie family's home is a perfect example of the town's selflessness.
The family asks for visitors to bring canned goods that will be donated to the food bank.
"You feel kind of warm and fuzzy," said Christensen. "To me, it epitomizes the generosity of this town, Moultrie, Colquitt County. We exist strictly because they want us to be here."
The Colquitt County Food Bank will host a Christmas Distribution this year, giving out meals to help approximately 650 families.
The food bank is always in need of donations.
You can donate food to the Food Bank located at 309 3rd Street SE in Moultrie, or you can send monetary donations to P.O. Box 1402 Moultrie, Georgia 31176.
