SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Several south Georgia cities hosted Christmas parades on Thursday night, including Sylvester.

Hundreds of people lined the streets to watch more than 50 floats circle the downtown area.

This year's theme, 'The Gift of Christmas', was back by popular demand.

One resident said he hasn't missed a Christmas parade in 15 years, and he was excited to see his daughter participate this year.

"My little girl is in it, so that means a lot to me. And there were a lot of other people, their kids are in it. So I mean it's nice to have and we thank the Lord for it," said parade attendee Phillip Everett.

There were also parades in Americus and Fitzgerald Thursday night.

Albany, Leesburg and Tifton will celebrate with their Christmas parades on Saturday.
