SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Santa is in Sylvester celebrating the most wonderful time of the year during the town's Christmas parade.

This year's parade begins at 6 p.m. with more than 50 floats circling Sylvester's downtown area.

The theme of the parade is  "The Gift of Christmas," which has remained a constant.

But Main Street Director Jana Dyke said there were some new additions this year.

"We have changed things up," she said. "This year we are going to have singing after the event at the depot. So, that will give us an opportunity to showcase our new depot as well."

Downtown businesses are staying open late for Christmas shoppers.

There are also Christmas parades tonight in Americus and Fitzgerald.
