DOUGHERTY CO., GA (WALB) -

One school system has been invited to demonstrate their success at the state level.

Members of the senior leadership in Dougherty County are on their way to Atlanta.

They will do two presentations on Friday at the Georgia School Board Association's Winter Conference.

One will be about how they have taken strides to turn around the school system since 2012.

The other will be about the school based health centers.

School leaders said that it's an honor to present.

"To be singled out and given the opportunity to do two separate presentations at the same conference with such a broad audience, I really think it shows that people are interested in what is happening in Dougherty County, and they really want to model things after us," said DCSS Spokesman J.D. Sumner.

School leaders hope they will gain useful knowledge that they can bring back to the school system as well.
