SYLVESTER, GA (WALB) -

Georgia State Patrol called Worth County 911 to request help in a car chase that ended in a wreck and an arrest.

Officials said that Deprince Slaughter, 26, of Moultrie, was speeding in a Dodge Challenger off of Highway 33 South, heading into Sylvester when they called for assistance.

Sylvester Police said that Slaughter was clocked going 99 to 115 MPH by GSP.

Slaughter crashed into a fire hydrant and another vehicle at Crockett and Main Street, damaging both.

Officials said that he then jumped from the wrecked vehicle and ran onto Crockett Street, off the roadway and into a ditch.

Slaughter led Sylvester police and investigators on a foot chase.

Investigators arrested Slaughter and took him to the Sylvester Police Department.

Officials found drugs, cash and a handgun.

Police said that he will be taken to the Turner County Jail and faces charges of possession of cocaine and possession of firearm by a convicted felon.
