A couple of hundred people, including dozens of law enforcement officers from across Georgia, attended Wednesday's funeral for a 40 year veteran of law enforcement.

Dougherty County Police Sergeant Steve Davis was killed in a car crash Thanksgiving afternoon on County Line Road.

His son memorialized Davis as a loving father and husband and "a cop who believed in showing good common sense."

"Our family truly appreciates the extraordinary outpouring of support we have gotten from extended family, friends, co-workers, and obviously the community. Y'all are just as much a part of his life as he was to ya'll," said Mike Davis.

After the service, a long line of police cars and Blue Knights motorcycles drove to Floral Memory Gardens, where Steve Davis was buried.

An 8 year old Worth County girl, A'Daesha Holley, also died in that crash.

Her funeral will be Saturday at 2 p.m. at Unity Baptist Church in Sylvester.
